The Horus Heresy

The Horus Heresy is Games Workshop's game of the galactic civil war ten thousand years before Warhammer 40,000, when half the Space Marine Legions turned on the Emperor. It is a game of big battles between Legion armies, with a heavier, more detailed rules set than Warhammer 40,000 and a strong focus on the Heresy's story.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Horus Heresy?

The Horus Heresy is the civil war in which the Warmaster Horus led half the Space Marine Legions against the Emperor, ten thousand years before the setting of Warhammer 40,000. It is both a game and a long series of Black Library novels.

Is the Horus Heresy the same game as Warhammer 40,000?

No. It is a separate game with its own rules and army lists, set in the same universe at an earlier time. The models are the same scale.

Which Legion should I collect?

All eighteen Legions use the same core plastic kits with Legion-specific upgrades, so pick the one whose story and colours you like. Loyalists and traitors are both fully supported.

What is Legions Imperialis?

Legions Imperialis is the epic-scale version of the Horus Heresy, fought with tiny models and whole armies of tanks and Titans.
